how to paint Ork flames
Hey Guys,
I have had quite a few supportive comments on how the flames look on my Evil sunz. Here is a tutorial on how I go about doing it. I have had to drop the quality down in some of these longer videos just because Youtube keeps on failing my uploads! I hope this helps someone out there in Youtube land.

@RetributionAngel Hey, yes the are certainly hard to do, but I hope this
made it easier for some. I would like to see how you paint yours, maybe I
will incorporate your style??

These custom icon, pic tutorials have been great I hope you do more. It’s
nice to see the big picture then on a model. It really shows how simple (ok
with practice) it can be and how great it can add effect to the mini. Makes
me want to have a steadier hand and push my limits.

@Digitalrecline Thanks so much for your comment. I hope that working
through my struggles and putting it on vids helps someone. Just your
comment alone supports me in wanting to make more. I know there are tons
better than me, but if my vids help even one person, it was all worth it.
Cheers and yes, please do push your limits! Thanks again, Cat/

devlan mud over the paint job sounds like a good idea, ill try that too 🙂

@Chris4Ok Hey Dude, No worries, If you like a durty ork looking mini, a
complete devlan mud wash will suit your biker squad just fine! Cat/

Thanks for you tutorial! Really appreciate you sharing this with us. Only
thing for me is to put this newly gained knowledge to practice =P

I’m sorry to say this but this is wrong (no offense please!). A flame is
bright at the base, and red/black at the tip. Good brush control, nice
video.

@CorvusMiniatures I Don’t want anyone “sorry” to say their opinions on my
channel, as long as they are respectful as yours. I agree with you on the
flames except I did try that and what appeared to happen was the flame tip
would get lost in the basecolours of the red copta/bike. I found with the
orange and yellow tips, you could easily see the flame layout even after a
devlan mud wash. Cheers and thankyou for posting!

@bazZy33K Then get painting!

@beanofdoom42 Thanks Bean, I was hoping this would help someone out there
in youtube land!

@Catattafish well I haven’t thought about that, maybe I was to impulsive
with my reply… indeed you picked a tricky background color 😉 I’ve
thought about this a bit more and in fact you’re using it as some kind of
icon, symbol, it’s not a real flame, so it shouldn’t look 100% right. I
believe the Eavy Metal version of the Legion of The Damned Space Marines
have a similar design on their shoulder pads…

@Catattafish When I get my camera that’s going to be one of m videos. I am
very Envious of all the Necrons you have gotten. I lost m 3000 point army
to a U hall truck Fire Got cash but use it to get other stuff my Hobbies
was put on the back burner for a long time.

Awesome video and tutorial bud! Best tip I’ve heard yet was how you
finished… Grow some balls and try it! LOL There is SO much truth to that
though. I know lots of us get into that moment you mentioned about spending
all that time painting to that point and not wanting to mess it up.
Excellent job!

@Phile700 Hey Dude, somewhat it is backwards, except you must consider that
the base colour that I am painting flames on is red. If you do it from
yellows to reds at the tip, the outline of the flame will be lost. Cheers!

Well.. This WASN’T waste of time 🙂 good video, you made me a Evil Sunz
painter now .. 🙂
